TPS65982: work with TPS65981

Part Number: TPS65982
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65981, TPS65987

We have a product consisting of 2 parts, both are powered by battery. When one of the batteries runs out of power, the other can supply power to it through USB-TYPE C, it will source out 5V first then switch to 12V. We have a small TYPE-C board using TPS65981  in both of the 2 parts. Now we cannot buy TPS65981 on the market, so we designed replamement board using TPS65982(although 65982 is neither recommended for new design, we can still buy some on the market). Now we have some problem with TPS65982 co-working with TPS65981:

I write the old firmware for TPS65981 into the 65982 board flash, only when both parts using TPS65982, 5V can shift to 12V. If the source side use 65982 and sink side use 65981, source only output 5V and doesn't switch to 12V. What may cause this problem? Can we solve it? Or we must use the same chip on both sides?

5V output is Internal 5 volt Power Path, 12V output is Internal High Voltage Power Path; PP_EXT is used as power input.
