BQ76925EVM: Power management forum

Part Number: BQ76925EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76925, BQSTUDIO, EV2400

Hi, I've just received the eval module and installed the windows software to run some tests.

First, I don't have a the Usb-to-gpio. I looked up to order and it has a manufacturing date of 2006 and a price of over 150USD locally. I wonder if there are alternatives to the USB-to-GPIO adapter to communicate with the board using TI evaluation software.

Also I see the last post on this forum is 2 years old, wondering if the part I picked is too old to use in a new design....

Cheers

  • Hello Jose,

Unfortunately we do not have an alternative, you would have to use the USB-to-GPIO in order to interface with the evaluation software. I apologize for the incovenience!

Regarding why you see the last post to be 2 years old, it is because you are looking at the e2e for the EVM. If you search the E2E forum for the BQ76925 directly, you will see much more recent threads. However, you would be correct that this is a pretty old part. It has an analog output for the cell measurements and no protections.

Newer monitors (that also provide battery protection features) include the BQ769x0 family (3s to up-to 15s) and the BQ769x2 family (3s to up-to 16s, this is our latest monitor/protector released). These two provide digital cell voltage measurements and battery protection features (voltage-based, current-based and temperature-based) and many other features. They both require the EV2400 to interface with bQStudio (the software to evaluate the parts), however the BQ769x2 has the EV2400 integrated in the EVM board itself, so if you purchase this EVM you can just use the on-board EV2400 and would not require to buy an additional EV2400.

    Best Regards,
