Thanks for reaching out to us via e2e.
The pinout / footprint is the same.
But there is one major difference:
The internal sense resistor which is used to control the cycle-by-cycle current regulation is different.
This does not mean that the LM5001 _can_ handle a higher current.
It means that the LM5001 _must_ see a higher current before it will turn off the FET.
This will change the duty cycle and maybe it cannot work at all.
You can try using a smaller inductor to reach the higher current limit within shorter time, but this will definitely increase the ripple current.
Overall, it is not really a drop-in replacement. It is not possible to just change a resistor or so to make it work in the same way.
