TPS61022: Mode pin strange behaviour with 10K pull down.

Part Number: TPS61022

Hi All,

Recently we have used the TPS61022 as a boost converter from 2V to 5V at 1A.

We experienced strange behaviour with +5V output like very big output noise and bad load regulation.

We have pulled down the mode pin with a 10K resistor:

During some tests we replaced the 10K resistor with a 0r resistor. Suddenly all strange behaviour seems te be dissapeared. So it looks like our problem is solved, but we would like to know the root cause.

Is there some internal pull up which creates an voltage divider with our external 10K resistor and so the mode pin is in undifined state?

Best regards

  • Hi Leddel,

We don't have pull up resistor for TPS61022.

Have you measure the waveform of MODE pin when there is 10K ohm resistor? Maybe a big noise current here which introduces some voltage spike of MODE pin by this resistor.

    Regards,

    Nathan
