TPS25762-Q1: TPS25762-Q1

Part Number: TPS25762-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25772-Q1, PMP40933

Hello, I have the following questions:

1.) Do you have any additional documents or a typical application circuit for the component as a pure USB-C power supply (charger)?

2.) Are there further documents or layout files for the Power Stage Layout in the datasheet 12.2 on page 82?

3.) Can the component be operated permanently with a voltage of a maximum of 33V/DC, what role does the overvoltage Protection Circuitry play?

4.) What is the context of the Graphical user interface to the component? Is it necessary?

5.) In the data sheet page 66 “Figure 10-3. TPS25762-Q1 Application Schematic “What function does the EEPROM have here. Is this absolutely necessary?
If so, how are the data installed, via the bTPS25762-Q1 or via an external system?

Thank you

  • Hi

    Thanks for your reaching out.

    1) Yes, we have EVM/EVM user guide and Reference design board, both are for typical application, you can find them under the product page on ti.com.

    2) Yes, actually we have the layout files and design guidance except the EVM user guide. Anyway I think the EVM user guide would be enough for layout guidance.

    3) The recommended voltage for Vin is 5.5 V to 18 V. The converter will cease operating if VIN exceeds the OVP threshold, which lies between 18 and 20V.

    4) The Graphical user interface is used to configure the feature/function and power range for TPS25762. You can download it and use it to configure TPS25762 as any power output and function you want. It's very flexible and smart.

    5) The EEPROM is used to store the firmware with is a must need for TPS25762 function realization. If you don't want a EEPROM to boot the device, you can also use a MCU to download firmware to the TPS25762 device by I2C each every power on sequence.

  • I know that there is an evaluation module TPS25762Q1EVM, but I think this is too complex for us. We don't need every functions. In the datasheet on page 81 there is a layout of the power stage module and I think this would be enough for our functionality. Do you have this as a starter or eval kit or is it possible to get this layout files to make a pcb on our own?

  • Hi,

    1. ok

    2. Who is our FAE and how can I contact him/her? I don't have a directy contact person.

3.So that means, that you cannot operate this above 18V? But in the datasheet there is the following advice: Wide VIN: 5.5 V to 18 V (40-V maximum)

4.Is the graphical user interface neccessary or just optional? Can the TPS25762 also be operated without these setting options? What are the default settings then?

    5.ok

    Best regards

    Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

We would like to release a reference design guidance for TPS25762-Q1 in next two weeks. You can refer to TPS25772-Q1 reference design PMP40933. https://www.ti.com/tool/PMP40933

The expected reference design for TPS25762-Q1 is similar with PMP40933, which would be more simple and easy to use, and the schematic, PCB layout files Gerber files....will be all released.

The release procedure is undergoing and it will be released in next two weeks. Maybe it will be faster than expected and I will also keep you posted when it released.

  • Hi Thomas,

You can send me a email if you are really urgent for this case, then I can share the reference design files with you.

For No.3, yes, The recommended voltage for Vin is 5.5 V to 18 V. You can refer to recommended operating conditions for VIN pin.

For No.4, the graphical user interface is necessary for TPS25762-Q1 product, you need this tool to configure the power and other features/functions.

If you apply one EVM, a 65W default configuration is already stored in EEPROM memory. Also if you try to download and install the app tools, two configuration bin files are also included in the package. But if you just only use the product IC, it can't work as expected without configuration bin file uploaded.
