ULN2003A: The way to sink 700mA

Part Number: ULN2003A

Hi team,

My customer is currently using ULN2003A. Today they have a challenge of sinking 700mA by this device.

I guess the AMR for a single current is 500mA. So, i wonder if they can use unused ch to sink more current.

  1. Can they use some unused pin and sink more current paralell?(like 350m * 2ch)
  2. If possible, what should they care about when doing the paralell drive?
  3. If not posible, is there any other recommendation for the customer to drive 700mA per channel with our IC?

Regards,

Ohashi

  • Hi Ohashi-san,

Yes the ULN2003A is capable of sinking 700mA by paralleling multiple channels.

The number of channels which are necessary to achieve 700mA capability will depend on your intended duty cycle. Please refer to the following "Maximum collector current vs. duty cycle" plots shown below to determine the per channel sinking capability given your duty cycle.

Paralleling these channels is a common application which can be configured as shown below.

We do not have a low side switch currently capable of driving 700mA per channel, but you should have no issue achieving this with the ULN2003A.

    Best Regards,

    Elizabeth
