VGA charge PUMP inverter_TPS60403DBVR PowerDC Simulation have poblem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM27761, TPS60403

Hi TI support team :

I have the VGA charge PUMP inverter design used " TPS60403DBVR ",
now my design run PowerDC Simulation have poblem

PL29=DC Host 5V
U68=TPS60403DBVR
U9= VGA Amplifiers LMH6738MQ

I setting U68 (TPS60403DBVR) DCR=15 ohm
when Host through U68 (TPS60403DBVR) dalta=1.3V
so voltage level from 5V drop to 3.59V to U9(VGA AMP)
so U68 & U9 Simulation result fail.

I have the question,
1. TPS60403DBVR DCR=15 is right or not?
2. This topology design to run DC power Simulation is right?

  • Hi Leo,

    The max output resistance of the TPS60403 should be 15Ohm from the datasheet spec. You can consider using LM27761 (Charge pump with integrated LDO) here as it has a lower output resistance and LDO dropout voltage compared to the TPS60403. You can check the output resistance vs load current in figure 19 of the datasheet.

  • Hi John :

    excuse me, so TPS60403 +5V input to Pin2, but it have voltage drop so Pin1 OUT , can't keep -5V level voltage output ?
    about my PI voltage drop issue did you have any solution or recommend ?

  • Hi Leo,

    Yes you are correct, it won't be possible to get -5V with 60mA load current. The recommended solution is to use the LM27761 which has a lower output resistance. This will help reduce the voltage drop.
