TPS92612: Scheme recommendation

Part Number: TPS92612

Hi,

The customer has a requirement to control a 20mA red LED, which requires constant current and temperature compensation (the luminous efficiency of the LED decreases with the temperature rise, and compensation is required to keep the luminous efficiency constant).

Please help to suggest Suitable products!

Many thanks~

  • Hello Rhea,

Would you be able to tell me a little bit more about what features the customer desires?

    • What input voltage are we using?
    • What control scheme do we want to utilize? Analog or Digital? If Digital, which communication protocol?
    • Most drivers can control current and compensate for temperature, are there other key features needed? Is price the main concern? Are features the main concern?
    • Which end application will this be used for?
    • Are they looking for an all in one solution, or is a multiple chip solution an option?

    Best,

  • Hi Pedro,

Thank you for your attention and reply!

The customer needs  input voltage is 7.5V .

No need for control, preferably Analog .

The customer said that the current scheme does not control the source, but fixes 20mA output. When the heat of the lamp comes up and the power is low, some current can be increased.

Customers will focus on features before price.

The customer uses it on the screen.

  • Hi Rhea,

Thank you for the information. This gives me a lot more context.

Would you clarify what screen is this being used for, is it a backlight for an infotainment system?

Also, do you happen to know the voltage drop of the load?

How many LEDs are they trying to put in series and what are their individual voltage drop? I ask because if the load voltage and the dropout voltage of the device combined are higher than the input voltage we will need to add a boost stage.
