LMR33620: LMR33620CRNX

Part Number: LMR33620

We would like to use the LMR33620 with a 28V supply and to get an output voltage of 26V. The device specifies a maximum output voltage of 24V, is this limit due to thermal considerations?

In cases where we need 26V the current will be limited to less than 500mA.

Would this be ok for this device?

  • Hi Andrew,

Thank you for reaching out. I consulted our expert of this device, and the main reason for 24Vout recommendation is that the device extensively validated under up to 24Vout. It seems doable for 26Vout, but please experiment in details for your 26Vout application.

Note that there is also the min off time limitation, 85ns.  If you switched the IC at 2.1MHz, the actual frequency can be as high as 2.4MHz. The guaranteed max duty cycle would be only 80% at 2.4MHz, but you would need about 93% duty cycle to produce 26Vout from 28Vin.  To get 26Vout, you will need to reduce the switching frequency to below 800KHz, and for this device it means you should choose the 400kHz version.

Hope this clarifies, and good luck in your project.

    Youhao
