TPS2549-Q1: Data packet loss problem

Part Number: TPS2549-Q1

Hi TI

     During the USB test, the customer found that the data packet loss was very serious. Using the TPS2549IRTETQ1 power charging control chip, the packet loss phenomenon disappeared after crossing the chip with a short route. The following is a schematic diagram. Please help me analyze the reason. Thank you.

  • Hi Rain,

    Do you have tested the eye diagram?

    Try to add below network and have a try.

  • Dear Ziv

           thanks for your support;

           1. The customer's Apple charging certification(MFi) does not require eye diagram testing, so this data is currently unavailable. If necessary, I can try to have the customer test it;

           2. The customer has made modifications based on your circuit modification suggestions, but the data loss rate test cannot be completed by the customer themselves. It was done by a third-party certification agency and will take about 3 weeks to queue. If you have any other better suggestions, please point out that the customer can send another testing machine to queue as soon as possible to make the modifications, which can save the customer time solving the problem. Thank you.

  • Hi Rain,

    In fact, the device has high data bandwidth and few complaints.

    Please check DM/DP layout.

    It's important to have differential pair routing. Also less vias on DP/DM is recommended.

    How do customer judge the data loss rate? We generally test eye diagram to judge the quality of data transfer.

  • Hi Ziv

          The customer has completed the hardware modification plan and precautions mentioned above, and the packet loss rate has improved to some extent. However, they still did not use Apple certified compatibility testing. Please help analyze the possible reasons again. Thank you.

    Additional information for testing:

    1. The hardware wiring has been confirmed to be fine, and we have three  port of USB side by side. One port did not pass the CP test using TPS2549-Q1. Then there is no problem with skipping the flying wire, but after skipping TPS2549-Q1, the power supply is insufficient.

    2. The attachment contains an eye diagram showing a 20% increase in USB HUB gain. Because CP does not measure eye diagram and cannot increase gain on USB HUB, the attachment can only be provided as a reference.

  • Hi Rain,

    Can you send me the layout by email?

    Or we can have a check online.

  • Hi Ziv

          Can you send your email to me(My email: Rain.Wang@arrow.com), The customer is very looking forward to online communication. We can make an appointment, thank you very much.

  • Hi Rain,

    Have sent you one email.

  • Hi all,

    Move to email tracking, need the online review, so close this thread, thank you.

    Best Regards,

    Kuno
