LM2594: LM2594 5V current rating

Hi Allen,

What is your output voltage?  Could you check against Figures 27 through 30 and Table 3 of the datasheet to find a suitable inductor allowing 400mA under 24Vin?

Hello Youhao, the output voltage is 5V. based on table 3,  500ma is possible with an input of 24V is this true

Table 3, L18  column Schottky diode list PN 67144040 is this an inductor, who is the manufacturer?

Hi Allen,

I have the same question. I just asked our team.  The PN looks similar to Wurth PN but I checked Wurth website and it was not leading to anything. I also checked Digikey, Mourser and Newark website, no success.  

Anyway, there are equivalent inductors from Renco, Pulse and Coilcraft.  Could the customer check these vendors?

It was a Typo.  The actual vendor is Schott

Not sure how it end up with Schottky in the datasheet.

the output current increased when the fast recovery was replaced by a Schottky diode, why is this the case 

the Fig 28 given a  220uh inductor  (L18),  the max current is ~420mA, yet Table 3 L18 states 550mA, which value is correct

Hi Allen,

I don't know what diode the customer used in the first place.  If it is a slow diode, it will affect the operating and hence the output voltage regulation.  A Schottky is usually used to avoid that situation.

Figure 28 shows the requirement, and Table 3 show the actual inductor capability, which should be greater than the requirement to have margins.  Hope this clarifies.
