BQ27742-G1: BQ27742-G1 not compatible with bqStudio: connection lost

Part Number: BQ27742-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQ27742EVM, BQSTUDIO

I have a problem when trying to connect EV2400 to our board that has BQ27742-G1.

While if I am using the board EV2400 connected to the BQ27742EVM the connection is fine.

When opening bqStudio selecting the target from the list (gauge-> 0742_1_03-bq27742G1.bqz)

I got the following message:

"The detected device is not compatible with this application!
Some actions could cause the device to lose communication permanently and enter an unrecoverable state.
Proceed at your own risk.
Select OK to continue, Cancel to close the application."

Selecting OK, I can see that it detect the device, with voltage, charge etc., but after few secondo it disappear and remain disconnected.

EV2400 Firmware: Version 0.32 (same was happening with version 0.28)

bqStudio version 1.3.101

Chemistry version 1006

IC address: 0x55

If I am using my microcontroller to connect to the BQ27742 it works fine.

  • Hello Giuseppe,

if bqStudio does not autodetect, then there is either a problem in communication or it does not recognize the version of bq27742. Can you read the device and version from commands and let us know what is reported?
