What do I do with the bq24210 TS pin if I don't need to use it?
From the data sheet page 2: "Temperature sense pin, connected to NTC Thermistor in the battery pack. Pulling High puts part in Limited Power charging mode. Must not be left floating. You pull it high if not used." Pulling TS high has the same effect as a hot battery. Page 17 of the data sheet outlines additional options.
The TS must be tied off correctly for proper operation.
Tie the TS to the VTSB is the prefered setting for solar applications(typical schematic attached) and puts the part into Limited Power Charge Mode (LPCM).
This setting does have a threshold (VLP(TS)) that it must be higher than 85% of VTSB. If less than that it could look like a hot battery and affect the charging current.
If LPCM is not desired then the TS must still be tied but to hold it in normal operation range. This threshold is 30% of VTSB (or nominally 0.66V)
These thresholds are on page 7 in the electrical table under Battery-Pack NTC Monitor.
