TPS62871-Q1: Temperature Reading

Part Number: TPS62871-Q1

Hi Team,

For the Tulip family I can see that there is a possibility to read thermal warning for a set of different temperatures

I was wondering if this is done by an integrated temperature sensor and if so, is it possible to read actual temperature via I2C?

if not, how do we get the warnings about exceeding 130 degrees for example?

best regards.

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

The I2C cannot be used to provide real time temperature reporting.

how do we get the warnings about exceeding 130 degrees for example?

A comparator is used to compare the voltage (corelated to actual junction temperature) with a reference value and then changes the status of the bit to 1 in the STATUS register if the limits are exceeded. This status can be read by the user (Eg: if a thermal warning event has occurred, or not occurred).

Please refer to the screen capture below (as provided in the datasheet of the device)

    Thank you.

    Kind Regards,
    Rameen
