TPS65988: 0x5F Data Status Register, USB3Connection

Hi, I want to configure TUSB546A using MCU and getting connection parameters from PD controller(TPS65988). I read USB3Connection bit but I noticed that when I plug in a powerbank to device which has not even PD controller, USB3Connection bit is 1. Why this is happening?

The USB3 connection bit is just detecting a connection of a USB (generation 3) device. This is referring to the USB data speed, not power, so it does not necessarily have to do with PD controllers. Does your power bank have USB3 capabilities? If yes, this would be normal behavior. Please let me know!

Not only my powerbank also other devices are seen as USB3 connection is present. My powerbank mi powerbank 2 quick charge 3.

Hi Muhammet,

Charge 3.0 is most probably referring to USB 3.0 data speeds. This power bank is advertised as "Quick Charge" typically meaning fast data speeds. What is the full name of this device? I will look more into it to confirm it actually supports USB 3.0. Could you also provide the other device names you tested?
