Hello TI,
I am looking for an IC that can handle Vin 16-30V @Vout 15V 1A.
How come this IC has a much better efficiency, lower cost, smaller solution size than the others? Whats the catch here?
Thanks,
Valentinas

Hi Valentinas,
My colleague is on biz trip. Her reply may be delayed. Appreciate your understanding.
Hi Valentinas,
Sorry for my delay. Please see my comments below:
1. To have a better efficiency, would suggest to use 500kHz as the switching frequency since your application has high input and output voltage, higher switching frequency may have poor efficiency and bad thermal performance. And also, choose an inductor with a low DCR.
2. To have a small solution size, high frequency solution could do good to this but we need to consider the efficiency and thermal first, so 500kHz or 600kHz is suitable here.
3. To have a cost effective solution, 500kHz could let RT pin floating, saving a resistor.
Hope this helps.
