TPS65987D: Can PP_HV2 be pulled to GND instead of direct connection?

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi

During our production, we encountered several TPS65987DDHRSHR where the power path between VBUS2 and PP_HV2 was faulty (=conducting) causing a short to GND on the unit (because the unused PP_HV2 was tied to GND according to the datasheet: "Tie to ground when unused", p.5).

Question:

- Why does PP_HV2 need to be tied to GND when unused?

- Instead of directly connecting to GND, can we also just pull it down with a 10k Resistor or similar (please make a suggestion)? (we had a 0-Ohm Resistor designed in, so this would allow us to rework the produced units)

It would be great to get help soon, since have already units produced that need to be reworked as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance,

Mark
