LM3644: Application with 2V VCSEL

Part Number: LM3644

Hi,

I would like to use LM3644 to strobe VCSEL at its typical If=600mA. In this condition the VCSEL's Vf=2V.

1. Is LM3644 suitable to drive a LED/VCSEL with Vf lower than 2.3V?

2. What is the lowest Vf supported by this IC?

I found LM3644 switches into short circuit prevention and drives at 200mA only when Vout falls under 2.3V but the IC switches to Boost mode when Vout falls under Vled + Vhr (approx. 2.2V in this case).

The VCSEL will be driven for 4ms repetitively in duty cycle 4/66 (on/off).

Thank you in advance,
Ondra
