BQ4050: Programming during mass production

Part Number: BQ4050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQPRODUCTION, BQ40Z50, MKST-3P-ALT-EV2300

We are planning to program our systems during mass-prodution using a c# routine and we are wondering about the best method to write BQ4050RSM final parameters and the serial number. Is there a routine or support from TI?

What's the accuracy of the voltage and current measurement without calibration or is calibration necessary in any case?

Thanks for any support.

  • Hello DH,

TI provides bqProduction tool as a reference for mass programming. The final parameters are contained in the "golden image". After the golden image is written, you can write serial number and perform calibration. Using average calibration values for bq4050 is usually sufficient for most applications. For highest accuracy/reliability it is best to calibrate each unit.

  • Hi Shirish,

thanks for your quick response. If I understand you right, a calibation is not necessary in any case?

Do you have any information about the tolerances? We need the cell voltage accuracy in our calculations and like to know the accuracy without calibration.

  • What BQPRODUCTION will work with BQ4050, not BQ40z50? It's not listed online.

Will the interface MKST-3P-ALT-EV2300 work with BQ4050?

  • Hello DH,

bqProduction should work with bq4050. I can help you with that. MKST-3P-ALT-EV2300 works with BQ4050.

There is no published data on factory calibration, so i cannot answer the tolerance question.
