TPS61230A: The linked CAD Footprint for the TPS61230ARNSR has the pads numbered incorrectly.

Part Number: TPS61230A

Hi

I've just been caught out by what seems to be an huge error in the footprint that the TI web site links to for a CAD/CAE Symbol for the TPS61230ARNSR. The pads in the footprint library are numbered incorrectly.

On the page:  https://www.ti.com/product/TPS61230A#cad-cae-symbols

There is a link under the Download column, labelled "View Options"  https://vendor.ultralibrarian.com/TI/embedded/?gpn=TPS61230A&package=RNS&pin=7&sid=lit344e7360344e7360344e736062da538c125f046&c=1

Following this link takes you to a page where you can download a footprint library (Ultra Librarian for TI). The footprints provided are wrong when compared to the data sheet. The pads are incorrectly numbered.

Screenshot #1 below shows the footprint with pin 1 in the top left corner, whilst the datasheet indicates that pin 1 should have been in the bottom left (see Screenshot #2 below).

Screenshot #1 showing Incorrectly numbered pads in the footprint

Screenshot #2 showing the datasheet's pinouts.

Please correct this major error so that no one else runs into this problem.

  • Hi Paul,

In screenshot #2 it is top view, but in screenshot #1 it should be bottom view. So it should be ok, I think.

    Regards,

    Nathan

  • Sorry Nathan, but that is not the case.

The footprint library has the pads on the top layer. Also note that pad 7 in screenshot #1 is smaller than pad 6, but pad 7 is larger than pad 6 in screenshot #2.

Thanks for the response, but I still believe the footprint library to be incorrect.

    Regards

    Paul.

P.S. the footprint for this part on SNAP EDA appears to follow screenshot #2, which reinforces by belief that the Ultra Librarian footprint is incorrect.

  • Hi Paul,

Ok, I see. Very thanks for the correction.

But sorry I am not sure how the model in the ultra lib is created and who create the model. I am not sure if it is owned by TI or some other organizations, neither. So I am afraid that we are not the right person for this problem. Sorry for not helping.

    Regards,

    Nathan
