Hi
I would like to ask TPS22950 current limit tolerance in ~3A, I only found below table up to 2A current limit tolerance.
And what is the highest operation current for TPS22950?
Thanks!
Jeff

Jeff,
The highest current limit supported is the upper range of what you see in that table- from 1.54A to 2.46A. This will be the highest current limit tolerance supported and is what was tested for UL certification. Anything over this value might work, however we cannot guarantee proper operation as it is out of bounds of what we test for as characterized.
Hi Timothy,
So TPS22950 it no suitable for 2A appication?
As your description, seems even set current limit @2A may hit the mimimum limitation 1.54A, right?
It too many desciption in porduct folder and datasheet make people misunstanding.
Thanks!
Jeff
Jeff,
I clarified this with our systems team. First, we need to distinguish between "current limit" and "nominal current" as you are circling both values in the datasheet.
For current limit, you can set this value to your own custom value using the method mentioned in 9.3.3 Adjusting the Current Limit. The maximum supported value will depend on which version of the device you are using:
While not explicitly at the datasheet, for each variation at 3.5A you can use +/-500mA for the accuracy.
IMAX, or maximum steady state current, will be defined by the IMAX value. This is the current that the device can operate indefinitely (unrelated to current limit). For TPS22950C, if you set the current limit to 3.5A, you would want to make sure your nominal DC operation is less than 3A so that the nominal operation does not overlap the current limit.
I will relay to our systems team to make this more clear/emphatic in the datasheet and product page.
