BQ25303J: Battery Charging Design

Part Number: BQ25303J

Hi,

Myself Renjith,

Iam designing a battery charger with bq25303jrter to charge a single Li-ion battery.

Battery that i am using is ncr18650ga. During my design i have used NTC as per the datasheet 103AT-2.

And resistor values RT1 - 4.32 KOhm and RT2 - 21 KOhm. But the charging was not happening.

Then I removed NTC and put RT1 & RT2 with default value 10K, Now its getting charge, RICHG - 56K.

Can I get any design reference document for designing the values of RT1 and RT2 according to my requirements.

  • Please go through my design.

  • Hi Renjith,

Thank you for reaching out via E2E. Since you are using the 103AT-2 NTC the resistor values RT1 = 4.32 Kohm and RT2 = 21 Kohm should be correct to set acceptable battery temperature range to 0°C to 60°C.

Looking at your design schematic it appears the issue is that the resistor values are placed in reverse. You have the 4.32 Kohm resistor between TS and GND when instead it should be placed between REGN and TS.

I would expect charging to occur once you correctly have RT1 placed between REGN and TS and RT2 placed between TS and GND.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
