BQ34Z100-R2: MOSFET connected to REGIN keeps on burning

There is no path that I can think of that will burn out this FET unless something is different on your PCB than from the schematics.

REGIN and CE don't draw significant current so it looks like something is shorting this FET to GND on your PCB. I would test continuity between REGIN and GND. Maybe there's an incorrect path and this shows up as low resistance (<1Ohm) causing the FET to get damaged?

The REGIN pin does get shorted to the ground, but only after the FET burns which damages the IC and the shift register I am using. I burned one board and replaced the IC, Shift register, FET, and diode on the same board and the REGIN and GND are not shorted. Would you mind checking my schematic, if I send you the same in your DM?

The schematics look fine. I would check that the layout doesn't have an incorrect path to GND from REGIN/CE. Maybe check if C2 is correctly installed (remove C2 to test).
