TPS61022: ripple noise

Part Number: TPS61022
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61033, TPS61089

Hi Sir,

Our customer has requirement, the condition as follows:

1.

VIN =2.16V

VOUT =3.3V, IOUT:2.5A

2.

VIN =3.0V

VOUT =3.3V, IOUT:2.5A

we use webench to simulate the output ripple, can not meet the condition of output ripple noise below 10mV. any other suggested solution or ways to improve? thanks for your support.

  • Hi Tommy,

    The output voltage ripple is much related to the value of output cap and output current, so if you want smaller ripple with large load current, you need larger output cap.

    And more, for your application, we suggest to use TPS61033, because the switching frequency of TPS61033 is 2.4MHz, higher than TPS61022(~1MHz), so with same requirements of output voltage ripple, you can use smaller cap.

    Because TPS61033 is new device just RTM in last month, so we don't have Webench model by now, you can use Vp-p=Iout/Cout * (1-D) / fs to estimate the output voltage ripple roughly first and apply for a  EVM to test.

    Regards,

    Nathan

  • Hi Nathan,

    got it, thanks.

    semms that TPS61089 is also a good choice, right?

  • Hi Tommy,

    Yes, TPS61089 can work but needs larger output capacitors.
