BQ27427: Which algorithm works best for a device with removable battery and external charger

Part Number: BQ27427

Our device uses a removeable battery with an external charger. Typically, the user will insert a fully charged battery and will use the device until the battery is depleted. He will then replace the battery with another fully charged one and will insert the depleted battery into the charger.

What is the best algorithm/part number to use as a gauge for the battery in the device? Impedance Track, CEDV or DVC?

  • I recommend attaching the gauge to the battery, assuming you manufacture a proprietary pack.

If this isn't possible, then the only gauge that I would maybe use is a CEDV gauge. It will treat each battery as a brand new battery because it can't learn anything if you remove the battery and possibly replace it with a different one.
