TPS65987D: Custom HDMI to USB C converter/adapter

Hi all,

we're currently working to build or own HDMI to USB C (with display port) converter. In particular, we have a HDMI source which will be connected to the converter and a monitor that will be connected to the converter through a USB-C port.

For this purpose we decided to use the TUSB546A-DCI together with the TPS565987D (PD controller) and designed our very first electronics scheme. However, since we are quite new to this, we need this schematics to be reviewed. Would you be so nice and review this schmatics and tell us what could be wrong and what we should change?

Hi Ugur,

I reviewed the schematic and have some comments in the checklist below. Some of these are significant changes so I highly recommend reading the documents below.

Here are some references that I think would be helpful:

1- This is a Hardware Design Guideline explaining the pin functions and features of the device

2- Please refer to the Datasheet page 45 for an example schematic

Hi Aya,

Thank you for your support. We will go through the design and let you know, once we need something. But just to be on the safe side: do we need something else to convert a HDMI2.0 to DP1.2 Type C (USB Type C connector) or will this schematics work as it is?

Hi Ugur,

Yes, something is needed to convert HDMI2.0 to DP1.2 such as an MST (multi stream transport).
