Hi,
I have a design using the LM2596S-ADJ to output 5V to an IoT device.
After a couple of days of being connected the output voltage goes from 5V to 0V and remains at 0V.
We have two versions of the board (ver 2 and v3), on version 2 we don't have this problem, the problem is on version 3. We checked and there are no modifications on the buck circuit layout or components from version to version.
We measured the buck circuit and the difference we found was that the output pin on ver 2 is around 150kHz and on ver 3 it's 28kHz.
One detail is that heating the component with a soldering iron or a heat gun "revives" the regulator and works for another day and the problem repeats.
Questions:
- Is the frequency of the output pin indicative if the regulator is not working as expected?
 - What could cause the LM2596S-ADJ to output 0V after a day?
