BQ24040: BQ24040 charging profile question

Hi expert,

Customer wants to know is that possible to put BQ24040 with below charging profile with external configuration? Base on different temperature, charging current and charging voltage will vary.

  1. 0~10°C: 250mA (0.5C), 4.2V
  2. 10~45°C: 1A (2C), 4.2V
  3. 45~60°C: 250mA (0.5C), 4.1V

    Hi Oliver

    This would require an external circuit that monitors the temp and control the ISET pins to change current.  Unit would require ISET to have 3 levels of current. 

    1. 0~10°C: 250mA (0.5C), 4.2V  ---- Current will decrease to 500mA (50% ISET) between 0C and 10C. Would need to change ISET to get to 250mA
    2. 10~45°C: 1A (2C), 4.2V --- Standard operation for the BQ24040.  ISET configured for 1A
    3. 45~60°C: 250mA (0.5C), 4.1V -- BQ24040 will change to 4.1V automatically, But I ISET would need to change for 250mA

    While possible it may be difficult.
