BQ33100: Method of Operation: Works without host, host required for programming, host required for operation?

Part Number: BQ33100

Hi,

I am considering using the BQ33100 for a client that needs to balance a stack of 5 supercapacitors, but they need something that doesn't require a host controller to for normal operation, and also doesn't take a lot of firmware overhead to run or program either.

Can the BQ33100 be used without a host controller?

Does it require programming from a host controller to run or is that optional?

Does it require a host controller to run?

Thanks,

Kevin Wood

  • Hello Kevin,

A controller is needed to setup all the parameters. After that the bq33100 can operate independently. A system host is ideal. There are alerts like CIM that will be missed if there is not host.
