USB_TO_GPIO EVM Firmware Upgrade Fails

Greetings:

I'm running the "USB-TO-GPIO Firmware Loader.exe" utility on Win7, attempting to upgrade the USB-TO-GPIO firmware from 1.0.10 to 2.0.19, so that bqWizard3 will talk to my BQ78PL114EVM. I plug in the USB-TO-GPIO, the green light comes on, I launch the utility, and click "Find Device" as suggested in the readme. Nothing happens - it does not find a device, nor does it produce an error message.

Anyone have any ideas?

PS: bqWizard3.1.0 reports that it is "unable to connect to device."

Hi David,

This utility currently only works with Windows 32bit operating systems, we are working on an update to make it compatible with 64bit.

This will be out on the web later in the year. I think the only real solution at the moment is to install the tool on a 32bit system.

The tool is only needed once to load the firmware and then you should be fine.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try running in on the XPVM. I need to upgrade to .NET3.5 first, and the download from Microsoft is failing consistently. What else is new...

I'll let you know on Monday how the firmware flash went.

Hi Ben:

The firmware upgrade utility worked fine under native XP, but did not work on the XP Virtual Machine of Win7. After the upgrade, I am able to communicate with the EVM using bqWizard3.
