BQ76952: temperature protections strategy

Part Number: BQ76952

Are temperature protections such as OTD, OTC, UTD, and UTC directly protected after reaching the corresponding temperature trigger? No need for actual charging and discharging?

Our customer has a situation about high temperature discharge. Is there any other way to make sure the CHG doesn't shut down in case of high temperature discharge.

  • Hello Minghao,

1- OTC and UTC will turn OFF the CHG FET when triggered.

2- OTD and UTD will turn OFF the DSG FET when triggered.

3- OTINT and UTINT will turn OFF the CHG and DSG FETs when triggered.

As it can be seen above, any temperature protection will turn OFF the CHG or DSG FETs. What the customer can do is disable the protections or set the protection thresholds higher.

Protections can be disabled in Settings: Protection. Thresholds can be set higher in Protections:
