BQ25622: Maximum current at SYS

Part Number: BQ25622

Hi ,

We are using charger BQ25622 in our new design, charger input is 5V buck regulator with 5A

1) Is it possible to use a 3.2A load attached to SYS? At the same time the 3.7v li-ion battery needs to be charged, is it possible?

do we need to add any load sharing circuit?

2) If there is no battery, can we get power from the Vbus in normal mode?, what is the maximum current at SYS?

Please go through the block diagram:

  • Jom,

The BQ25622 is a 3.5-A charger. When supplied by the VBUS source, it can handle up to 3.5A total load current, i.e. the sum of the charging current and the system current. If there's no SYS load, the maximum charge current can be 3.5A. If there's no battery charging, the maximum system current can be 3.5A. Please note that the max input current limit is 3.2A, the charger current and system current may also be limited by the input power.

    Thank you very much,

    Ning.

  • if system load is not linear current consumption ,vary from 3.2A to 1A, then how can control battery charging current as predefined value?

  • Jom,

Please refer to 9.3.4.2 Dynamic Power Management on the d/s for the details.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
