LM25184: Power management forum

We designed a power supply schematic & generated a BOM (24V to 5V@3Amps) using WEBENCH.

All components are assembled as per the schematic & tested.

No-load condition 7.3V output is getting in place of 5V output. On 7.3V output, we placed a load of 10mA then the driver IC failed.

Hi Kakarla,

Sorry to hear that your design is running into issues. Can you provide your schematic, layout, and any waveforms of the start-up, and steady-state (SW, VIN, VOUT, and SS) to start off?

This is my schematic & transformer is using coilcraft make i.e., ZA9671-BED

turns ration is 3:1

Hi Kakarla,

There's nothing about the schematic that stands out wrong to me. Do you have any waveforms to share, or a bit more to describe in what manner of how the LM25184 failed?

I am loading on output side with 10mA of resistive load then the IC is failed.

Input side high current drawn and out voltage is not getting after loading.

IC over heated after removing the load and high current drawn on input side(24VDC).

Hi Kakarla,

It looks like you may have a short on your board.

For further information, can you provide the transformer that you were using?

Also, layout and waveforms will be very important in understanding what is going on since right now, otherwise it will be very difficult to find out the root cause.
