Hello team,

I had a query regarding the Quiescent Current of TPS62993-Q1.

As per our understanding, if device is in Forced PWM Mode, Quiescent Current is high.

If device is in Auto PWM Mode, and if Output Current is 0, Quiescent Current is ~4uA.

What will be the Quiescent Current if load current is ~1-2mA and ~10mA? i.e. Device is switching at light load output. Can we get any graph regarding the same or any related data?

This is because in our standby mode, the load current is in range of ~10mA, so we wanted to know what the quiescent current of the device would be.

Hi Mayur,

Yes, the quiescent current spec in PFM is 4uA and it applies only when the device operates in PFM at light loads. This 4uA quiescent current will not change. But, in addition to this current, depending on the overall efficiency of the design, there will also be an input current draw. If you provide the input/output voltage, we can estimate this input current.

Input Current = (Output Voltage*Output Current)/(Input Voltage*Efficiency).

Using the above formula + the given quiescent current of 4uA, will this give the appropriate overall input current?

Hi Mayur,

Yes that is the correct formula and the input current will include the quiescent current as well. If your load current is in the mA range, the quiescent current will be a very small portion of the total input current anyway.
