TPS60250: Test methods for electrical disturbances from electrostaticdischarge

Hi E2E,

When we used TPS60250 for ESD test-- air discharge (15kV).

The IC will trigger protection and shut down during the test.

At this time, we keep the power-on state, and restore the test environment to normal conditions, the TPS60250 still has no output.

I would like to know whether IC has self-recovery function, and what is its judgment logic?

    Have you checked whether the IC has already damaged? Will IC still work if when power off and then power on after ESD test?

  • Yes, we checked the IC. It still work if we power off and then power on.

    When the IC has no output, could you please check the registers setting by I2C?

    I made some mistakes in my earlier reply.

    Now, let me correct some information:

    1. We have done 8KV and 15KV ESD tests, and the results show that IC has no output in the process of ESD test. And after restoring the normal environment,It still no output.

    2. After the normal environment is restored, there is no feedback on TPS60250 configuration status of MCU through I2C interface.

    3. We try to cut off the VIN power supply (+5V) of TPS60250 and re-supply power to TPS60250. It still has no output. During this process, MCU keeps working and 3.3V power supply of I2C is not disconnected. 

    4. If we restart the whole product, the TPS60250 can get back to work.

    And may I know why you choose this device to drive your LED strings? Actually we have some new devices so could you please share me with your spec requirements so that I can help to check if there are better solutions?
