TPS61022: Is there an issue with the simulations in WeBench Power Designer?

Part Number: TPS61022

I had not used WeBench for a while, but today trying to simulate a simple power supply, with no customization (so as proposed by WeBench) output voltage stays stuck to 0V...

Is there a known problem with the simulation tool?

Can I trust the design proposed by the bench?

Thanks

JYL

  • Hi Currently no issues were announced by the producer. You can download the pspice model to simulate as well.

  • Actually, there is no issue in the simulation but maybe a lack in the selection of the devices!

I found what was wrong: I simply asked for a boost converter from 1V5 to 3V3.

Most of the components selected by WeBench are able to operate down to 0.5V BUT they need 1.8V to start.

Thus the simulation was correct, because the device was not able to start at 1.5V!

So, indeed, it was safe for me not to trust the proposed designs!

There should be a warning somewhere, or at least a check box to tell if the input voltage can be higher than the specified voltage for startup...
