TPS25750: VIN_3V3 current measurement conditions

Part Number: TPS25750

Hi team,

When customer tries to measure Ivin_3v3 to check the actual value compared with the datasheet value, customer notice there are some mode (Active Source, Active Sink, Idle Source, Idle Sink)

To determine source mode or sink mode, it depends on the connected partner's role, correct?

I'm not sure what is active state and idle state correctly. Could you explain the difference of the state?

Best regards,

Hayashi

  • Hi Hayashi,

I will review your question and provide you an update by 5/24, EOB.

  • Source or sink mode is determined by how you have configured the TPS25750. You can configure it to be source only, sink only, or DRP (dual role power). If a DRP, the TPS25750 will act as a source or a sink, depending on its port partner's role.

Idle mode means that there is a connection on the CC pin, but that the following events have not occurs for a period of time, T:

    • Incoming USB PD message
    • Change in CC status
    • GPIO input event
    • I2C transactions
    • Voltage alert
    • Fault alert

Active mode means that the above events have occurred recently, more specifically within time T, while CC pins are connected.

    Kind regards,
