Why do some of the reference materials show a resistor in series with the soft-start capacitor, but there is no mention of this in the data sheet? What is its intended function? As shown below (R3):

Thanks for using the e2e forum.
The additional resistor R3 is fully optional.
The function of this resistor is to fine-tune the softstart time.
E.g. if your application needs a very specific softstart time and there is no physical cap with this capacitance, you can make small adjustments with a resistor.
If you find a fitting capacitor right from the start, the resistor is not necessary.
