LM25088: Using regulator to charge supercap

Part Number: LM25088

Hello team,

please help me clarify some basic concepts: i have a working regulator based on LM25088 device, that i would like to use to charge supercapacitors. The regulator works fine if i connect it to a resistive load, but dramatically fails when i try to charge a supercapacitor bank. I see that regulator turns on for a very short time, then immediately stops working and output falls to 0V. My questions are:

1. Can i charge a bank of 16.5 farad supercap whit this regulator??

2. Can increase soft start time to some seconds to let regulator to turns on properly when the supercap is fully empty??

3. If this regulator can t be used for this purpose, what circuitry should i implement for using it for charging a supercap??

Please give some hint.

Regards
