The TUSB544 DP mode is controlled by the CTL1 pin. When CTL1 pin is low, AUX/SBU switch is open as shown below,

Customers want to still be able to communicate through channel SBU when they are not in DP mode.
That is, the SBU channel can only be used for DP protocol in DP mode?
Can the channel SBU be used in non-DP mode through the configuration register? Thanks.

You can use register 0x13 AUX_SBU_OVR to communicate through the SBU channel when not in DP mode as shown below,
