TL431: Separation of Initial and Long Term Drift Tolerance

Part Number: TL431

Hi,

Good Day.

The customer uses your TL431 shunt regulator to generate a precise voltage for in-circuit calibration/validation of an ADC.

They are wondering, how much tolerance is initial and could be calibrated at an end-of-line (EOL) test and how much long-term drift is to be expected over operating hours.

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Vincent

You can calibrate the the initial accuray at EOL testing. Calibrating the temperature error will be dificcult at EOL.

It's temeparture accuracy will be major part in the error and the long term stability will be in significant when you do RSS calculation for overall error , that's why it is not given in the data sheet.

Can you please tell me your data converter accuracy and what is your error budget? We can suggest you other suitable reference if required.

    Regards
