BQ7721605 Question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ77216

Hello,

About the BQ7721605 secondary protection. It has a timer that when one of the cells is above 4.225V then the timer starts and if one of the cells remains above 4.125V (it has 100mV hysteresis) for 1 second than the IC trips. To reset the timer before he reaches to 1 second, i need to go under 4.125V in all of the cells. When all of the cells goes below 4.125V, after how much time the timer is reset? 50ms?

Thank you

  • Hello Maor,

The BQ77216 monitors all cells independently. So if one cells goes above 4.225-V, only that cell needs to go under 4.125-V in order to reset the OV timer.

Although the exact timing was not characterized, the timer should be reset as soon as the voltage goes below 4.125-V. I imagine this would be much faster than 50-ms, typically this would take a few internal clock cycles at most, which are very fast.

    Best Regards,
