LM2105: LM2105 use as high side driver

Part Number: LM2105

Hi Team,

I would like to konw if LM2105 can only use high side driver? if possible the Unused Pins should floating or Gnd?

Thanks!

Jenson

  • Hi Jenson,

Thank you for reaching out! Yes, you should be able to use the Half-Bridge gate driver LM2105 as a high-side driver. The bootstrap capacitor provides the charge for the high-side, and the bootstrap capacitor is charged when the low-side of the driver is on. If you are not planning on switching the low-side, the bootstrap capacitor will become too discharged and will not be able to provide sufficient charge to use as a high-side driver.

The team has an article available for how to implement a half-bridge gate driver as a high-side switch: Link. This approach will still require switching the low-side to help create the bias for the high-side. If switching the low-side is not an option, then external circuitry such as a charge pump or isolated floating bias (like SN6505 or UCC14240) will be required to help keep the bootstrap circuit charged.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

    Best,

    Alex Weaver
