LM5116: Output current MAX value

Part Number: LM5116

Hello Team,

As I know, Buck controller doesn't matter of output current value. however, I can see Iout Max value on "Product details" on ti.com.

What is the meaning of Iout MAX on Buck controller? It is because some other device has more than 100A.

  • Hello Ken

It is the maximum "recommended" output current which customers can achieve without a trouble (based on signal versus noise ratio).

If the sense resistor value is too small, the amount of switching_noise / ground_offset / sense_resistor_inaccuracy might be relatively too much, and they will distort the current sense input too much.
