Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5122
Hi,
My DC-DC circuits was designed with LM5116, it is a 48V inputs 27.5V outputs DC-DC circuits, the maximum current load is 5A, when I do testing, I found the circuits works fine by connecting a E-Load to draw 0A-5A current load directly, this 27.V DC output was connected to a relay on the board also, I found if I connected a E-load after the relay and set E-LOAD to draw 5A current, then switching on/off relay, the DC-DC will be turned off or works abnormal, the DC output voltage will be much lower than 27.5V.I guess this issue was caused by LM5116 over current protection, when switching on relay, the relay contactor will be electrical arc and caused high inrush current, that caused LM5116 OCP.
I adjusted the circuits by increasing the Cvss to increase the start up time to decrease the inrush time during power on, and meanwhile to reduce the capacitor's capacitance of Culvo connected to the pin of ULVO, it can fix this issue, or just by removing the capacitor of Culvo.
My question is what risk if I remove the capacitor of Culvo? because I don't want circuits lost the OCP function, if I remove this capacitor, the circuits still has OCP function?
Because I met the similar problem with the DC-DC controller of LM5122, the LM5122 also has this HICCUP protection mode.
Thanks and best regards
