HELLO ,

Please suggest me some IC based solutions for my battery charging application

-battery used is 12.6V lithium ion battery 3S i.e Three 3.7V cells in series which maximum charge voltage is 12.6V .

-Charging current should be high

-charge termination feature as I want to charge 90% of the battery only not more than 12V on full charge.

-VIn =13 volt from adaptor

How much current can your adaptor provide? That will determine the charge current.

My adaptor can provide 3 ampere of current

My main corcerin is that the Ic should be able to terminate the charging voltage at 12V

Hi Zuhaib,

Ok, for standalone (resistor set) charger, I recommend BQ24171, with ITERM = 10% of ICHRG. The external resistors allow you set the VBATREG=12V. This charger connects the input source directly to the load.

If MCU/processor is available to provide I2C host, I recommend BQ25672. It defaults to VBATREG=12.6V but the host can change VBATREG. This charger sends the system load current through the converter and prioritizes system load over charge current.
