Hello Blmal,
Keep in mind that for batteries below 100mAh, the current consumption of the gauge becomes large compared to the capacity of the battery. Most of the TI gauge are designed for batteries with at leasrt 100mAH capacity.
You did not specify whether it is a single cell battery or has series cells.
Go to https://www.ti.com/power-management/battery-management/fuel-gauges/products.html to filter based on your application
Yes it will be single cell only.
I kind of searched through the TI fuel gauge solutions and found that BQ27427 or BQ27220 seems promising!
- Can you provide any better solution if so? comparatively.
- Also let me know the EOL plans for this 2 ICs?
Hello Bimal,
You can use the GPCCHEM tool to see if your battery is compatible with bq27426/7. This is suited to batteries have long periods of no load/charger.
bq27220 uses the CEDV algorithm and is suitable for batteries that are continuously used.
There are currently no EOL plans for both ICs.
The latest is bq27z746
Hi,
Does BQ27220 & BQ27427 requires a learning cycles for each and every new device?
- Is it possible to have accurate readings for fresh new device with battery in manufacturing for both BQ27220 and BQ27427, from the first cycle without learning cycles?
- Do this fuel gauge have accuracy in uA to determine discharge current, as our device has average discharge current of <1mA?
