TPS6594-Q1: Output cap

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1

Hi team,

For TDA4AL PMIC, can we replace 3*47uF with 1*100uF+1*47uF? What is the risk of this change? Thanks!

  • Hi Jiawei,

As long as the effective capacitance remains above the local and total output capacitance specifications, the performance will likely not change. These specifications are found in the BUCK1, BUCK2, BUCK3, BUCK4, and BUCK5 Regulators section of the Specifications chapter in the datasheet, and copied below.

For the original design, it seems we have chosen three identical capacitors in order to minimize the amount of unique components on the bill of materials. If you are not concerned about different components on the BOM, you could replace the capacitors with a 100 μF capacitor and a 47 μF capacitor.

    Regards,
    Megan
