UCC28951: What is a PFC pre-regulator?

Part Number: UCC28951
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28950

Hello,

In the application note slua560d of ucc28951, in the description of "10 Input Capacitance (Cin)", it says PFC pre-regulator, can you tell me what is equivalent to this?

Does that mean ucc28950?

  • Hi Uchida-san,

A PFC is a Power-Factor correction controller. This is typically required for most applications consuming more than 75W of power. Typically for the UCC28951, the UCC28070 is used as the PFC stage. In lower power systems the UCC28180 is commonly used.  Here is a link to our PFC selection guide which gives a bit more detail.

I hope this answers your question.
