TPS65219: PMIC has been shorted BUCK1 power rail and ground

Part Number: TPS65219

Hi,

We are designed  custom board AM625x processor with  TPS6521903RHBR PMIC. Without board powering on , the PMIC BUCK1 power rail with ground  is shorted (Impedance value 0 Ohm). Please see the below image for your reference.

Is there short is happening on BUCK1  power rail with respect to ground  Without feeding the input power?

  • Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. If the PMIC has not been supplied (VSYS = 0V or floating) then the device has no control over the output rails. Buck1 or any other power rail should not be shorted to ground. If the output of Buck1 is shorted to GND while the PMIC is OFF, this might indicate a FAB/assembly issue with the PCB. Have you tried de-soldering the PMIC and measuring the impedance between the Buck1 output and GND?

    Thanks,

    Brenda
